one of las smartest young voices says the la times…which the artist suspects, may just be a covert way of saying la is dumb. “open” mike eagle wouldnt terribly mind, being born and raised in chicago where the painful winters and his uppity grandparents kept him inside as a youth. he spent his formative years watching alternative music happen on mtv and hoping to one day be able to audition for the native tongues. as a young adult after graduating with a degree in psychology, he did the next best thing and moved to los angeles, joining the project blowed collective where he made music and toured with busdriver, aceyalone, abstract, nocando, and more. he has also gained notoriety in the world of comedy by being invited by professional funny people (paul f. tompkins, hannibal buress, matt besser/ucb) to rap at their shows. he would like to be raps kurt vonnegut but recognizes that he would first have to create something as iconic as the four-stroke illustration of an anus. he practices by releasing rap albums that delight, entertain, and confuse.

tudor gheorghe, also known as romansoff, is a dj, producer & vinyl collector form bucharest, romania. heavily influenced by the small local underground parties on the electronic music scene in buchares romansoff started collecting vinyl, djing and later on headed in to production. in 2013 he started releasing music on his own imprint, raw tools. a vinyl only series with a raw, analogue, sound which was charted by known artists such as ben sims, mark henning and serge. now picked up by machine musics diesel we bring you two great tracks from romansoffs dark vaults in romania rage machine and in my heart

vacuum geometry ep is the first release of the 30drop project. four tracks have been edited, to further on be understood as a conclusion of the experiment and evolution of detroit techno on one hand, and as a dark and industrial european techno on the other hand. with this, a new a mix of styles is born, acquiring a particular and differential sound expressed by hypnotic, synthetic and cosmic textures, and by oppressive and evocative pads.

accompany the reissue of woo s into the heart of love, emotional rescue is releasing a limited 7inch featuring songs not included on the vinyl pressing, plus a previously unreleased version of the beautiful title song, which only appeared in later form on their cd only, la luna album. with the original into the heart of love album only appearing as a 60 minute cassette-only release, several of the albums songs could not make the first time vinyl issue from emotional rescue. therefore, this limited edition 7inch includes two of those ommited songs. the wistful english folk duet between mark ives and sue amor on make me tea and it s sibling on the album, a little long way. possibly woo s most straight forward folk song, make me tea is as the title imagines a very particular english poem. recording as a duet between two late night lovers, awaking from post-love making slumber to find peace and with it, a nice, perfect cup of tea. however, it is the inclusion of the unreleased version of the title song, magic in the dark that is worth the admission price alone. taken from the cd only album, la luna, the original s short and gentle story of late night love is presented here in it s alternate demo form. a different vantage point is shown in revelation and then exhaltation. the sadder start expands in to a beautiful and wonderus folk celebration. mark s vocals and guitar are later joined by gentle rhythmic percussion from brother clive, before clarinets duet to a yearning finale. woo once again showing their unique mix of folk and new age electronics. a one off to cherish.

catalognumber 23 – what else is to say? while we are feeling the spirit of william s. burroughs blessing this very vinyl-enigma, &me went particularly mysterious ways to transcend the category - dance track - for this one. the meditation through bass had been the major discipline of some of his latest cuts, but what you will find on this a-side, one could certainly call the perfection of somnambulistic peaktime-fever. the way he is kneading the lower frequencies, how he is channeling the expansion and decay of bass must inevitably lead to some aroused moaning. good vocal-selection, for that matter! then there are those tension building synths and a staccato-frenzy in the break that might be the ultimate ecstasy-trigger of the season. * locust* on b comes in with some smoothly looped e-guitar-coolness, adding whispering hi-hats and a comparatively rich percussive architecture. but then again: rolling bass barrels like a signature and a defence breaking build up thats ensued by liberating pressure compensation in mighty breaks. two demonstrations of understated and sophisticated peaktime-emphasis, so to say. or differently put: a flawless double-a-side.

the central executives what can we say ? not much as it turns out - the generally very forthcoming golf channel crew are remaining tight-lipped about the architects of this, frankly mind-blowing debut long-player from this new nyc collective. a walk in the dark is exactly that, a situationist song-sheet & sonic chaperone to guide us through the back street escapism these troubled times demand. from gently over-driven punk funkin mascara stained hymns, to house that has been thoroughly smudged to the edges of its live music incorporating limits. sitting very comfortably, in a moment of stewed elevation alongside sound signature style machine jams, bare bones vocal led improvisations, discordant arthur russell moments & the distorted reflections of roots house that run to the very core of the big apple. a drop-jaw debut then, that wears its influences proudly, but takes them somewhere entirely new.

next up on magic feet is a release by dark strands. tonys first release came via the first magic feet label sampler. since then his releases have caught the attention of a number of acclaimed djs, with daniel avery citing one of tonys tracks as one of the best he had heard last year. this is tonys first full vinyl release and shows exactly what he is capable of. the title track *return of the oscillator* has had people running to the booth every time its been played from london to croatia, as well as being fully road tested at alfos by sean johnston who also provides a superb remix under his hardway bros guise. the second track *galactic* slows the pace down and is perfect for those warm up sets.

the first release on amba amba records, *broomsticks & broken glass* brings a stirring, profound and a very personal introduction and sensation, offering a plethora of sound that perturbs the soul. the amalgam of raw sound creates a mystical sphere where noisy, dark depths are explored, awakening the senses bringing another form to life. as the ep continues as does the depth, the synthetic sounds induce adrenaline release as its density escorts us underground.
